About
I believe that money, well-spent, should be an investment — in yourself, your community, your world, your future, your family’s well being. The marketplace is packed with so very many choices, and you can spend waaaay too much money before you happen upon something that actually performs as you have been led to expect. By sharing my own buying choices and feedback, I hope to offer up a small amount of guidance to those who would rather hold onto their hard-earned money than spend it capriciously.
I always do my best to take a long view when making buying decisions; I am an overthinker by nature, so make far too many considerations in the first place. Perhaps you can benefit from this sometimes-cumbersome habit of mine. All I can say is that it is an inherited trait from a long line of resourceful midwesterners.
Demographically speaking, I am a college educated 38 year old midwestern wife and mom to a small toddler. I have cats. I have fair skin and fine hair. I am thin and do my best to eat a reasonably healthy diet, but don’t “diet”, and do what I can to ensure that my family eats a reasonably healthy diet as well. I care about the environment and making choices that contribute to a sustainable way of life. All of these things inform my buying choices. Aesthetically speaking, I am a major fan of craftsmanship. I enjoy things that are made well, with vision and quality materials, from any century. Sometimes it’s just worth it to pay more for something that’s made well, even if there are plenty of cheaper alternatives. A lot of times you end up paying less in the long run when you have something that’s built to last and look good while doing it.
Professionally speaking, I buy, sell, and appraise works of art. I keep a close eye on the secondary art market, which you’re sure to read about among my posts. This is a particular passion of mine, so while much of what I actually do professionally is bound by my clients’ confidentiality, I am always happy to share with the broader public the things that I have learned in the art market, and pass along some of that knowledge and a few buying tips to those interested in collecting art.
I am not a member of any advertising network, nor do I do any paid testimonials. Likewise, I do not do “swag”. All of the opinions and product information given on this site was collected by my ownself, by my own volition, with no outside influence.
