Thank you, Lisa!
Here's another great story with the same theme, by Kate Fridkis over at The Frisky: http://www.thefrisky.com/2012-02-01/girl-talk-i-love-my-weight-gain/

The less invisible these stories are, the less vulnerable we all might be to the insecurities we all have about our bodies.

Amen to "healthy and happy lifestyle" and to not "fighting with my basic biology." I absolutely relate to dealing with change and the temptation to remain in a place that isn't really healthy, and I applaud you for the post, your book, and your very personal exploration/discussion of these issues.

Yep! The size of the mattress is standard crib size, which also fits toddler bed frames. My little one is now 19 months, and plan to use the Nook for the next year or so (purchased just after he was born).

And wondering if the mattress will fit a toddler bed when the time comes?
Thanks for the review.

Emily,
It's been over a year since I bought the Nook. If I could rewrite this review, it would be exactly the same. Mattress is still everything that it was when I bought it.
Because I don't use a crib sheet, there are some pulled threads of fabric on the mattress pad, but nothing objectionable at all.
No complaints, no regrets. Son #2 still sleeping (healthily) like a champ!

Could you comment on the condition of this mattress after having it nearly a year? Has it held up well?
I really appreciate your review, I agree that I want to get the best for my child but not waste money. It's hard to know if something is a gimmic or worth the money without consumer reviews (we've just been spoiled with them since the internet!) Thanks!

Like you, when I was researching cribs & mattresses, I was intrigued by the Nook but couldn't find a real-life review. Also like you, I did my research and went for it (I happened upon a very-rare-at-the-time online sample sale Nook for about $350; now I see them around every month or so). I don't regret it one bit either. I agree that 2 AM blowouts are rare and and we haven't needed a second cover.

My one concern 10 months later is that it seems to be slightly sagging in the middle? Hard to be sure, though. Either way, my son sleeps so well in his crib; sometimes I wish I could get in there and cuddle up with him on his Nook.

Thanks for this great review -- I'm sure it will help other parents out there in their research.
